The senator representing Cross River North senatorial district, Sen. Stephen Odey PhD, arrived in Yala his home LGA with Barrister Alphonsus Ogar Eba D.G. Due Process and Price Intelligence Bureau to settle the dispute between two communities in his district. Odey called for calm between the two disputing youths of Okuku and Imaje to give peace a chance.

Addressing both the elders, chiefs, and youths of both communities separately, he emphasized that no one has to instigate any individual to engage in acts of violence, because the development only thrives when there is peace in a community.

Senator Odey also assured to pay the hospital bills of those who were injured as a result of the crisis and promised to assist in repairs of the structures affected.

Their Royal Highnesses, Ogamode Odaji Ipuole of Okuku Kingdom and Ogamode Edema Ipuole of Imaje Kingdom all promised to ensure their subjects give peace a chance.

Hon. Fabian O Ogbeche, the Honourable Chairman of the council, also ensure peace and normalcy were restored by declaring curfew in the communities involved.

The National Youth Council of Nigeria, Yala Chapter Coordinator, Comrade Abraham Okayi, stated that Yala from prime time is known for peace and there is a great need to maintain that very image of peace. Violence would only do more harm than good, noting that violence is the key limitation to the progress of any community. Peace is the most imperative factor for the development we are craving for in Yala LGA.
